Welcome to this first article in a brand new series on our blog, we are going to talk to you about Notion. If you are here, it's because you already use Notion, but let's still take the time to say a few words about the tool.
Notion is a productivity and organization platform. It allows users to create databases, integrate tables with advanced formulas, and a complete suite for creating notes. Notion can be used to organize projects, data, and information, and to share documents with other users.
Now let's move on to the main topic, what's new on Notion for this year.
1 - Recurring templates
It is finally possible to create tasks that are repeated over time on Notion. At the agency, we use Asana alongside Notion to get better visibility on all deadlines.
With this new feature, we are able to better organize tasks between the different tools, facilitate monitoring and improve daily collaboration.
From now on, it is possible to:
- Create daily or weekly tasks
- Automatically generate documents for daily use (weekly notes, etc.)
- Produce reports for monitoring campaigns, for example
2 - Dependencies between tasks
All the new features are not always appropriate since some take time to configure, and this should not become counterproductive.
Dependencies are a new way of linking tasks together. This makes it possible to better communicate on the tasks inherent to the main one, and to ensure a more coherent visual follow-up.
To do this, you should use the “timeline” feature, and drag the arrow from one task to another block in the table.
3 - The arrival of tabs on Notion
If you use Notion a lot, you'll admit that we all have this bad habit of having lots of Notion windows open for our purposes. I have good news for you.
Notion finally allows us to open tabs in the same window, and it's a real gain of space on the monitor when you quickly search for information in another page in your Notion space.
To open a new tab, simply click on Command + T.
4 - The progress bars
The complex formulas for getting progress bars in Notion are over. The tool now offers us the possibility of visualizing information very quickly in a very simple way.
It is possible to change the configuration of a “numbers” property in order to decide how to display the data. You will have the choice between a bar or a circle that complements each other.
{{cta-onpage-seo=” /cta "}}
Here is what happens when we use this information to monitor the optimizations to be made on the pages of a site as part of an SEO mission.
5 - Modifying several entries
For a very short time, you have been able to modify several entries in your databases at the same time.
This allows you to change the configurable fields of all entries with a single click. It's a huge time-saver when you have a lot of tasks in your backlog.
And that's it, it's already over for the Notion news to watch out for in 2023. I hope that this edition has made you want to test everything that has been presented. And if you want us to talk about it during an appointment, do not hesitate to block a slot in my agenda.
